October 2013 - Google introduced Android 4.4 KitKat with a new open architecture for NFC payments called Host Card Emulation (HCE).
February 2014 - VISA and Mastercard announced their support of HCE. Payment apps could be created for the first time in history.
November 2015 - boon Android app is launched.

In November 2015 boon Android app was launched in four European countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium.

Both apps were redesigned and rebuilt using the latest development tools and brand new UI design.
Wearables support

NFC payment function handled via MasterCard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) as a tokenization service provider and Google Pay, Apple Pay, Garmin Pay, Fitbit Pay as a digital wallet provider.
